Do you teach beginners?
Yes, Meg teaches beginning clarinet and saxophone students, as well
as intermediate and advanced musicians.
How long are the lessons?
Meg offers lessons in 30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute blocks. All beginners
start with 30-minute lessons. Many adults choose a flexible, two 60-minute
blocks per month. Most students take advantage of the weekly 45-minute lessons.
Meg discusses your goals with you to find the most appropriate lesson length.
Do you teach jazz improvisation?
Yes! Meg instructs musicians on any instrument who want to learn the fundamentals
of improvisation.
What days do you teach?
Meg teaches Monday-Thursday from after school (first lesson is at 3 PM) through
the early evening (lessons end by 8 PM.) She also has studio hours on Fridays
from 10 AM through 2 PM.
Where are the lessons taught?
All lessons are given at Grace Notes Music Studio, located in the Mt. Tabor
neighborhood of Portland at 5644 SE Belmont St, Portland OR 97215.
Do you offer performance opportunities for your students?
Yes! Twice a year, I produce student recitals; in the Fall and Spring. The
format of the Fall recital is small ensembles, in which students combine
into groups of two, three and four and play duets, trios, and quartets. In
the Spring, each student performs a solo with or without accompaniment.
How much are lessons?
Monthly packages are $100 for 30-minute lessons, $150 for 45-minute lessons,
and $200 for 60-minute lessons.
What do you expect of students?
Meg expects each student to practice the assigned lesson, keep playable reeds
in rotation, maintain their instrument in playable condition, and speak up
if motivation wanes.
What if I need to reschedule my lesson?
You must call the studio at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule a lesson.
